 Our Relationship With Technology

I think our relationship with technology truly stood out this year, positively and negatively. There is no question that technology has created wonderful things for the world, but now that we have been more secluded from the public, the internet has been our savior. Professors, companies, bosses, friend groups, students, etc., have all adjusted to the normalcy of Zoom.

The biggest aspect that the pandemic has altered is international business. Traveling to other countries for business was not necessary, however, it was proper etiquette because it shows hard work and perseverance to the client. Now, there is a shift because proper etiquette means staying home to respect the safety of others. There are many changes that we have made and it is unknown if it is for the better or worse.

I also wondered the shift in how people changed their personal lifestyle with technology in the pandemic. I came across many people who either lost a lot of weight or gained more weight. Did their eating habits differ? Did people get more sleep? One thing I enjoyed watching that many celebrities and users of social media did was workout challenges. For example, one celebrity posted a story of doing as many push-ups as possible. Then, they would say to tell their followers to try it and post it on their story. This was a great use of technology to bring people together and possibly motivate others to stay active.

Overall, I think the relationship with technology is unhealthy. At the moment, their are more negatives about the use of technology than positives. Nevertheless, that does not mean it can't change in the future.

I am still skeptical with every scientific study published, however, I think the pandemic has fast forwarded our relationship with technology because we were forced to learn, depend, and experiment with it.
